Everything you need to know about studying anywhere in the world
Online training is perfect for those who want to travel or study from a remote location.
Whether you’re travelling the world, on a business trip or simply want to use your commute to study, the more hours you’re able to put in the quicker you’ll complete your training. Here are some of our top tips on how to study on the go, wherever you are.
Choose flexible Learning
Online learning is a great option for those on the move and it’s increasing in popularity year on year. Studies have predicted that in coming years at least 50% of all classes will be delivered online. One of the main reasons that online learning has become so popular is the ability to study from anywhere.
With traditional classroom training, it would never be possible to study from anywhere in the world because you need to go where your teacher and class is based. However, with online training it’s easy. This can be great for those who are working in a role whilst they upskill, or those who are changing career path altogether. Flexible learning means that you’re able to make the most of your time and get as much studying done as possible.
Plan your study
Whilst it is easy to study on the go, it’s important to plan when you’re going to study in order to make the most of your free time. Motivating yourself to learn when you’re on the train or in a hotel room can be difficult, so planning ahead will keep you focused.
At the start of each week, write out a plan that you can follow. If you know when you’ll have some downtime, schedule a study block that will help you stick to a schedule and get your work done. You can speak to our StudentCare™ team to help plan a realistic and achievable study plan.
Find a course that you’re passionate about
When you have a genuine interest in something, the motivation to study will be much greater. With so many amazing online courses out there, it’s worth having a browse and choosing something that you’re passionate about.
The prospect of following a new career path, or upskilling for a new role can be really motivating, so choose something that has exciting career outcomes like Project Management or Cyber Security.
Use portable revision methods
Online learning is great because wherever you are, you don’t need to worry about lugging books around with you. With online lectures, all you need to do is plug your headphones in and you’re off. Check out these portable revision methods that never fail.
- Phone apps: flashcard phone apps can be great for testing your knowledge on the go. Check out Quizlet for some flashcard inspiration.
- Record your own voice: If you know you’ve got a commute coming up or a long journey, record your own voice and play it back to solidify the information.
- Online lectures: if possible, make sure you’ve downloaded your online learning before you’re on the road. Prepare ahead of time so you know you won’t be caught out without any Wifi or data.
