Student testimonial: I landed my job because of my training
We firmly believe that the right project management training can lead to job opportunities, and this student testimonial illustrates just that.
When Albert Adebajo started studying for his CAPM and PRINCE2 with us, he wasn’t working in project management. Now he works for Capita – a leader in business process solutions – as a project coordinator/PMO analyst, focusing on change management across multiple projects.
Why did you decide to study with the Learning People?
“I wasn’t working in project management before I studied for my CAPM, I was based more in logistics. I saw the Learning People through one of the job boards they are partnered with and initially rang quite awhile ago to discuss my options. Although my circumstances weren’t suitable to study at the time, I remembered the Learning People, and so rang them again a year later once I was ready.
“Both times I called Learning People, the career consultant was brilliant. The second time I rang, the career consultant advised me that my experience was suitable to become a project manager – something I hadn’t really believed before, but I trusted their expert knowledge and went for it.”
How easy was it to get started on the training?
“The learning is great, and has genuinely been money well spent. Everyday I go into the KnowledgeCenter and roadmaps and I have access to all sorts of real life scenarios which have helped me in subsequent interviews. Navigating around the platform is very easy and straight forward.”
How did you feel supported by the Learning People team?
“Once I’d had my orientation with a member of StudentCare™, who gave me all the time and help I needed, I then knew where to go, what path to follow, any shortcuts, and what resources are available to me.
“The mentors have been fantastic, they really are available when you need them, which has made all the difference to me as I have felt supported every step of the way.
“The learning has been easy for me, and the advice I have received from Learning People on my CV makes them stand out from other learning providers I have researched.”
What difference has your training made to your career?
“Put simply, my current role as a project coordinator is a direct result of my training. Within a year of signing up with Learning People I was able to get a job. Studying for my CAPM certification has boosted my confidence, to the extent that when I was asked a question in a job interview that fitted one of the practice scenarios offered in my training, I was able to answer with a clear response.
“It turned out this scenario was actually an existing problem for the company, and I’d provided an answer they hadn’t thought of before. Online learning has been the best way for myself to progress professionally because I can do it in my own time, and, although I’m yet to complete my certifications, I already know so much.
“My current role, which I really enjoy, is the result of the training that I received on my CV, and the knowledge I gained from the training to back this up at interview stage and into a job.”
Where do you see yourself professionally in five years time?
“I see myself doing project management, particularly in a program manager position. I’m still studying with the Learning People and am eager to see what other certifications I can gain with the company in the future.”
