Matthew’s Story
At 21, Matthew Kaira wanted to start a career in Cyber Security after finishing high school. Although he had an interest in IT and had explored some self-directed learning, he was looking for structured, practical training that could prepare him for employment.
After considering options including a university degree, Matthew chose professional certifications focused on practical IT skills. He completed CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+, with StudentCare™ providing structured study support and helping him establish a consistent learning routine.
Career Services then helped Matthew develop a CV and LinkedIn profile that focused on his new technical skills and certifications, despite having limited work experience. He also received support with networking, job applications and interview preparation.
Matthew subsequently secured a position as Assistant Technical Advisor with the Ministry of Education, providing a direct route from certification-based training into the IT industry.
