What’s changed from version 1 (DA0-001) to version 2
If you studied for CompTIA Data+ Version 1 (DA0-001), the majority of your knowledge and preparation still applies.
Version 2 is not a complete replacement of the previous exam, it is an update designed to better reflect the modern workplace and the evolving responsibilities of data analysts.
Your existing studies have absolutely not been wasted.
What has stayed the same
- Core data concepts, structures, and sources
- Data cleaning and preparation
- Basic statistical analysis
- Data visualisation principles
- Data governance, quality, and ethics
What’s new in version 2
- Awareness of AI concepts such as Generative AI and automation
- Modern data environments including cloud technologies and containers
- Troubleshooting scenarios such as query errors and data validation issues
- Greater focus on communication, accessibility, and business context
What has been reduced or removed
- Large lists of statistical tests
- Extensive chart-type memorisation
- Detailed report formatting requirements
- Legacy tools such as SPSS, Cognos, and MicroStrategy
- Web scraping as a dedicated exam topic
What it means for you
- You do not need to relearn the fundamentals
- Focus on updating your knowledge with modern workplace context
- Spend some additional time on AI awareness, cloud basics, and troubleshooting scenarios
Version 2 tests a more modern, workplace-ready data analyst, not a completely different one. If you prepared for Version 1, you are already in a strong position.
