Coding Courses

This depends on your level of experience in coding as well as your career goals. If you're just starting your career, or you're changing career from another type of role, then you need to look for an entry-level course with no formal pre-requisites such as the Front-end PLUS or ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) Course.

If you're an established project management professional looking to upskill, you'll need a more advanced course that will help you learn the new skills you need. For example, both the Python Novice to Pythonista and Java Novice to Javanista courses require you to have an understanding of and experience with programing languages. 

This depends on the course. Some coding courses, such as the Front-end PLUS or the ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) Course, have no formal prerequisites so are good for beginners in project management.

Some courses do require you to have prior experience. The Python Novice to Pythonista course for example, requires experience with programming languages. Many intermediate or advanced training courses will also specify that you should have a certain number of hours in study and experience before enrolling. The best thing to do is speak to one of our coding career advisors; this is a free service and will help you understand what courses you can and should take. 

Our Front-end PLUS course gives you the perfect introduction to coding and software development - it takes three months full time, six months part time - 215 hours of guided learning. 

After that, depending on your interests and career goals, you can choose to learn additional skills through courses such as Certified Blockchain Professional (CBP) for Developers. 

If you start with the right course, learning to code can be relatively straightforward. Acquiring a new skill is always challenging at times, but our expert-led Student Support and Career Services teams are always on hand to guide you. 

Absolutely not. A lot of the people we speak to at Learning People are looking to change careers in their 30s, 40s, or even older. If you're keen to study and work hard to be successful in coding, you should not find that age is a limiting factor. 

Coding can be a well-paying career. According to job board Adzuna, the average salary for coding professionals is $120,000.
