With a huge 23,948 tech and project management unique job ads posted on Adzuna between October - December 2025, changing careers to one of these growing sectors in 2026 is undoubtedly a great move.

Top Three Roles in Tech

The three tech roles with the highest number of job listings across Australia and New Zealand on Adzuna from the last three months  - along with their average salaries - are as follows: 

1. Software Developer: 

7476 unique job ads from October-December 2025

Average salary: $144,812 AU / $122,988 NZ

Great news for those in coding and development: Software Developer takes the top spot. Responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications, their primary focus is on writing code and creating functional, efficient software solutions. 

This creative and challenging role is accompanied by highly rated job security and salaries, with remote and hybrid working maximising work-life balance and job satisfaction. 

2. Project Manager: 

4931 unique job ads from October-December 2025

Average salary: $128,357 AU / $114,308 NZ

With roles that span across a range of industries - including Construction, Engineering, Healthcare and more - a career as a Project Manager is exciting and diverse. Project Managers oversee all aspects of a project: from planning and budgeting, to risk management and reporting. 

Project or Programme Planner and Director roles are also in demand; in the same three month period, there were 905 Project Planner roles and 1612 Programme/Project Director roles. 

3. Business Analyst: 

3698 unique job ads from October-December 2025

Average salary: $146,790 AU / $104,825 NZ

A career as a Business Analyst shows how working in tech isn’t always solely technical. Focusing on data and solutions to help businesses grow and reach their goals, Business Analysts are great strategic and creative thinkers. A combination of project management hard skills and human-centric soft skills, contributes to the high number of roles available. 

Data Analysts (who do similar work to Business Analysts) were also in demand, with 793 roles listed on Adzuna in the same three month period.
