AI skills are powering the future of work

The rapid growth of AI has led to 86% of companies globally reporting AI and information processing technologies as the main driver for business transformation, according to World Economic Forum.
The same report also found that ‘AI and big data’ is now the most in-demand skill with the highest expected growth globally from 2025-2030. The volume of job postings related AI rose by 35% from 2023-2024 and is expected to continue, according to McKinsey. The desire for AI skills was particularly prominent for roles such as software engineers, data scientists, and data engineers.
A recent report from Pearson revealed that 26% of jobs are at high risk if people do not upskill and embrace AI, with an estimated 1.5 million jobs potentially being transformed by AI by 2030.
According to the Deloitte & ACS Digital Pulse report, 51% of Australian workers felt they lack at least one digital skill required for their role with the use of AI, cybersecurity and data analytics being among the most common skills gaps.
