There’s a huge opportunity for qualified cyber security professionals within UK businesses according to the recent ‘Cyber security skills in the UK labour market 2025’ analysis from the UK’s Department for Science, Innovation & Technology.
The report revealed that there had been a healthy 11% growth in Cyber Security roles since 2024, with an estimated 12,900 cyber security roles needing to be filled for the cyber security workforce in 2025.

Our cyber security professionals are at the forefront of protecting our digital infrastructure

“The UK cyber sector continues to be a beacon of strength and innovation, creating thousands of high-quality jobs and driving economic growth. The government’s new Industrial Strategy highlights cyber security as a strategically important sector which is crucial for economic stability and prosperity. Our cyber security professionals are at the forefront of protecting our digital infrastructure, ensuring the safety and security of businesses and individuals alike.”

This is no surprise as a shocking 699,000 of businesses in the UK (49%) had a basic cyber security skills gap with a further 428,000 (30%) saying they had an advanced skills gap. This opens up an opportunity for highly skilled cyber security experts to bridge this gap.

The report also revealed there is a need to ensure a well-matched talent pipeline, and AI skills development is at the root of that. In fact, a report by FDM Group similarly highlighted that 54% of organisations say AI skills will now be required in all early-career roles.
