Who are the UK Cyber Security Council?
The UK Cyber Security Council is the Government-backed professional body for the Cyber Security sector. It sets the national standards for skills, ethics and career progression, ensuring that qualifications and job roles across the UK are consistent and trusted.
The UKCSC’s mission to promote and provide stewardship of the highest possible standards of expertise wholly aligns with Learning People’s drive to provide the UK with confident and qualified Cyber Security professionals.
“Effectively preparing our students for a fulfilling career in Cyber Security is our top priority - our Security+ course being mapped to the Council’s framework ensures that we do just that.
Our alumni can enter the UK job market confidently, knowing that their qualification and skills are recognised at a national level. With continued professional development (CPD) our students can progress to the Chartership level as their career develops."
The Council’s role is to help individuals and employers understand how cyber skills fit within recognised career pathways. Key to this is the launch of the Cyber Security sector’s first professional Chartership titles, meaning that those working in this area can now work towards ‘Chartered Cyber Security Professional’ status. The Professional Standard has four titles: Associate, Practitioner, Principal and Chartered.
With new technology constantly changing the UK’s digital landscape, the full-mapping of our CompTIA Security+ course to the Council’s Associate level helps ensure that our Cyber Security students’ careers are truly future-proof.
What Does “Mapped” Mean?
When a course is mapped to the UK Cyber Security Council’s framework, it means its learning outcomes, content and assessment have been officially benchmarked against the Council’s professional standards framework.
In other words, completing our Security+ course doesn’t just give you an industry certification: it confirms that your skills meet the Associate level of the UKCSC’s Career and Learning Framework. This will further improve our students’ job prospects, working in tandem with our expert Career Services team to secure employment.
Whether our students are enrolling to change careers or to upskill, being equipped with recognised Associate-level skills will help our students’ to stand out in a competitive job market.
Why This Matters for Students
This mapping provides powerful advantages for Learning People students:

-
Networking and community - You’ll be in great company on the UKCSC’s register, sitting alongside other certified members. This community is the perfect place to receive guidance and grow your network. Level 3 and Level 4 Cyber Security apprenticeships have also mapped their cyber certifications to the Council’s valuable framework.
