Tell us about yourself and the courses that you took
Hello, my name is Ashraf, and I joined Learning People a year and a half ago. I enrolled in an 18-month IT course because I wanted to pursue a career in IT development and the broader IT field. I realised that gaining some qualifications was essential for this. While researching online courses, I discovered Learning People, which helped me get started on my journey into an IT role.
Why did you first reach out to Learning People?
I first reached out to Learning People while doing my online research on companies that offer IT qualifications. Learning People was one of the first websites I came across. I had a call with one of their representatives, who explained what Learning People is, the services they provide, and the opportunities they offer. After taking notes on the key points, I realised that Learning People could help me move forward in achieving my IT qualifications.
How was your initial consultation call?
During my initial career consultation, I was asked about my goals and what steps I would take to achieve them. Taking this course requires a strong dedication to completing the work independently, as no one will remind you to do it. Therefore, it's crucial to keep yourself accountable for finishing assigned tasks.
The main focus of the career consultation was to discuss where I see myself in a couple of years and how I plan to reach those goals.
How was your online learning experience?
Learning People provided a variety of videos to help ensure that you can pass your exams. I found the practice exams and topic tests particularly helpful. After going through the videos, you take a topic test and need to achieve at least 80%. The practice exam is also very beneficial; while it is quite challenging, if you can pass it, you will definitely be able to pass the real exam.
"It was one of my best decisions as it allowed me to obtain the necessary certifications for my career. I was initially uncertain about which career path to take. After exploring various routes, I have now obtained certifications that have enabled me to advance in my career."
How has enrolling with Learning People impacted your career development?
Enrolling with Learning People has been incredibly beneficial for me, as I wanted to enter the IT field but had no clear path to do so. Learning People provided me with the resources and a foundational kit to develop my IT career, which enabled me to secure a role in IT. I achieved certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+.
These foundational certifications have made me more attractive to potential employers in the IT industry. Now, it's just a matter of building my experience on top of that.
What's been the best part of your learning journey?
The best part of my learning journey was seeing my hard work pay off. It was an 18-month course, and throughout that time, I made sure to work hard every day to fully understand the material. I prioritised revising daily, and now that I have completed all the exams, I can look back proudly on my achievements.
Completing these exams has allowed me to enter the IT field and kickstart my career.
What would you say to somebody thinking about enrolling with Learning People?
I recommend Learning People to anyone uncertain about their career path, as it offers alternatives beyond traditional routes like university or apprenticeships. If you're facing challenges in accessing these programs, I highly suggest considering online courses, such as those offered by Learning People.
University wasn't the right fit for me, so I began exploring alternative options that have ultimately benefited my career. This approach allowed me to earn relevant certifications and successfully enter the IT field.
Was enrolling with Learning People worth the investment?
For me, this has been a significant investment that has helped establish my career. For a long time, I was uncertain about which career path to pursue. I explored various options, and now that I have obtained the necessary certifications, I am able to focus on my career and gain relevant experience. Therefore, I can confidently say that it has been 100% worth it.
