Sustained infrastructure investment equals a continued demand for skilled project workers
From the establishment of Great British Energy to the construction of a third runway at Heathrow, it’s clear that the UK is committed to maintaining and expanding its already world-leading infrastructure.
The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) expressed that ‘the strategy represents an important step forward’, hopefully resulting in more efficient infrastructure supply chains.
Although largely focused on public sector investment, the strategy does highlight the importance of public-private-partnerships (PPPs), stating that the government will work with external experts via an Advisory Council. Infrastructure uplift in the private sector can also be seen in Universal Group’s plans for a theme park and resort in Bedford: this project will generate nearly £50 billion of economic benefit and create 28,000 jobs.
All of these diverse, job-boosting projects have one need in common: Project Managers.
The APS on the 10 Year Infrastructure Strategy:
“This marks the first sustained, co-ordinated, and long-term public infrastructure investment plan in years. It sends a clear signal of stability and certainty around plans and expected expenditure in the built environment which are key conditions for unlocking private capital and supporting economic growth.”
