Project Management Courses FAQs
This depends on your level of experience in project management as well as your career goals. If you're just starting your career, or you're changing career from another type of role, then you need to look for an entry-level course with no formal pre-requisites such as the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification. If you're an established project management professional looking to upskill, you'll need a more advanced course that will help you learn the new skills you need. For example, the PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) course requires you to have a certain amount of prior experience and will help you learn skills in conflict management, leadership, and stakeholder management, among other things.
This depends on the course. Some project management courses, such as the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification or the AgilePM® Foundation, have no formal prerequisites so are good for beginners in project management. Some courses do require you to have prior experience. The AgilePM® Practitioner course, for example, requires that you have done the AgilePM® Foundation course. Many intermediate or advanced training courses will also specify that you should have a certain number of hours in study and experience before enrolling. The best thing to do is speak to one of our project management career advisors; this is a free service and will help you understand what courses you can and should take.
Absolutely! In fact, they seem to be more in demand than ever in the UK and beyond. The most recent Project Management Market Trends Survey 2025 from APM (the Association for Project Management) makes it very clear that the future is bright for professionals in this field. The survey highlighted the high earning potential for project management professionals now and in the coming years. It also referenced how the vast majority of respondents to the survey said they feel there is a “great supply of quality, fulfilling jobs” out there in the project management sector, with almost three-quarters of respondents rating their economic prospects as ‘excellent’ or ‘good'.
We currently estimate the average salary bracket for project management professionals in the UK at between £40,000 and £80,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. This is based on large-scale analysis of job listings that provide salary information. Do note that demand and salaries can depend on the region within the UK.
